About Kristianstad Student Union
Founded in 1975, Kristianstad Student Union (KSK) is a non-profit membership organization representing students at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels at Kristianstad University. We represent all students across all faculties and work actively with educational advocacy, student representation, social activities, and collaboration with businesses, the municipality, and the university. In the summer of 2025, KSK will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Our Organization
The Kristianstad Student Union is led by two full-time (100%) remunerated positions: the President and Vice President, who make up the Executive Committee (AU). The AU also includes two part-time (50%) positions: the Student Representative and the Social Events Coordinator. In addition, KSK has an administrative office responsible for the financial operations of the union, including memberships and student discount cards (Mecenat).
President
The President's main responsibility is to oversee the organization, act as employer, maintain a strategic overview, and represent KSK externally. Much of the President’s time is spent in meetings with the university's leadership, other student unions, and regional political representatives.
Vice President
The Vice President acts as deputy to the President and is ready to assume the President’s duties when needed. In addition, the Vice President’s primary responsibilities include collaboration with the university’s safety representatives, student working environment, the organization’s digital design, and housing guarantee issues.
Student Representative
The Student Representative handles student-related legal matters that are brought to the Student Union. This includes a thorough understanding of the governing documents concerning students’ rights and responsibilities at Kristianstad University. The primary role is to meet and support students with individual cases.
Social Events Coordinator
The Social Events Coordinator is primarily responsible for planning and organizing the union’s social events. This role also includes leading the social committee, Sexmästeriet, which operates under the Kristianstad Student Union.
SEXMÄSTERIET
Sexmästeriet is the social committee of Kristianstad Student Union, responsible for organizing the union’s social events, such as formal dinners (sittningar), themed parties, and pub crawls. The purpose of Sexmästeriet is to create added value for students and foster a strong connection between international and Swedish students at Kristianstad University. By “social,” we refer to activities that take place outside of, or in connection with, academic studies.
Structure and Election
The Student Union Board appoints the members of Sexmästeriet’s committee in January. However, the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of Sexmästeriet are elected during the union’s annual election meeting in October of the previous year.
To be eligible for a position in the committee, applicants must be members of Kristianstad Student Union.
