Hey everyone!Summer break and graduation are just around the corner – WOHO! We at Kristianstad Student Union hope you’ve had the chance to enjoy the lovely May sunshine while managing your studies.

What Happened in April?

During Easter and Walpurgis Night, our office was closed for a few days – but now we’re back in full swing!

First off, we’re excited to welcome two new board members to the Student Union: Chelsea Chepkosgei and Rebecca Blixt.

Chelsea was actually elected back in March (our Vice President forgot to mention it in the last blog – oops!). She will focus on supporting international students by creating more inclusive events and helping everyone feel part of student life at Kristianstad University.

Rebecca was elected in April and is already active in COLOURS, a European university collaboration between nine partner institutions across Europe. Within the Student Union, she will help organize events in partnership with COLOURS and the Student Union – like the weekly language café, where international students can practice Swedish.

We’re thrilled to have these two stars on board to help us build a more inclusive student community!

Together with Cefyrekon, HKIF, and HKR, we’re planning the upcoming HKR-race, taking place on May 21st!This fun event invites students and staff to run or walk 5 km around campus – followed by a well-deserved grilled sausage and music. There’ll be competitions too, like best outfit, fastest runner, and a team prize. The Student Union will be there cheering you on with music and good vibes!

We’ve also been busy preparing for SFSFUM (the national student union conference), which took place May 9–11 right here in Kristianstad! We’ve been working on this for over a year, and it’s been an amazing journey collaborating with HKR and the Kristianstad municipality through the project Student City Kristianstad, aimed at strengthening student life in the city. We’ll share more about SFSFUM in a separate blog post.

🌸 Midsummer Celebration for International Students – May 29th

On May 29th, a public holiday in Sweden, we invite all our international students to celebrate traditional Swedish Midsummer in Stridsvagnsparken!The event starts at 1:00 PM and continues into the evening.
